This source is an article on how AI is changing threat defense in cybersecurity. While there is not a specific author, the article was prepared for usage by Syracuse University, an esteemed school of information studies. It begins by covering current applications of AI in cybersecurity, such as rapid threat detection, enhanced phishing analyzation, and isolation of potentially compromised endpoints (laptops, phones, etc.). It then goes on to explain how generative AI has become an integral part of both sides of the battle, with usage expected to increase an additional tenfold within the next decade. Lastly, it provides some highly recommended cybersecurity tools and discusses future trends of AI in cybersecurity, such as autonomous response systems and federated learning for privacy preservation. This website was helpful in introducing me to some of the current ways we are applying AI in the field of cybersecurity.

This source is a scholarly journal that covers the most recent advancements in AI that are being utilized in the cybersecurity field today. It begins by giving some background information on how AI collects its information and then starts to detail an important trend in how this is being improved through machine learning. The article goes on to explain how machine learning is enhancing threat detection but is also being used on the offensive side of the cybersecurity field simultaneously. This leads us into the potential obstacles section, such as the issue of false positives and the ethical issues surrounding data privacy. It then details AI’s potential future prospects in cybersecurity and gives some examples of its usage in various industries through case studies. This journal was pivotal in my research as it goes into great detail on several of the aspects covered on my website.

The article opens with an explanation on how AI has democratized cybercrime, with the professionals agreeing that AI provides the tools for hackers to perform cyberattacks with less background knowledge than ever before. It then goes on to give suggestions on how organizations can prepare for AI-driven cyberattacks, such as vetting third-party vendors and securing internal systems through safer governance practices. The article wraps up by speaking on the potential future of AI in cybersecurity, such as the continually growing dilemma of shadow AI and the dire need for skilled individuals in the field.

It opens by admitting that AI has done quite a bit for making cybersecurity more efficient, but then begins to detail the various ways in which its usage has begun to put our civil liberties at risk. The article uses case studies to highlight the various ways in which the new and budding technology is stepping on toes in regard to data privacy, even if that was not its original purpose or intention. The journal then gives suggestions on how we may better navigate these waters, such as setting clear AI surveillance regulations and conducting mandatory algorithmic audits.
